2024 Oklahoma State Football Schedule Announced

The Cowboys host six games in Boone Pickens Stadium

STILLWATER – Home dates against South Dakota State, Arkansas, Utah, West Virginia, Arizona State and Texas Tech headline the 2024 Oklahoma State football schedule that was announced Tuesday.

Four of Oklahoma State’s six home games take place in the first six weeks of the season, and only two home games are scheduled after October 5.

The Cowboys renew the series with several familiar opponents in 2024, facing Tulsa, Texas Tech, Colorado, Arkansas, Baylor and TCU. OSU also faces three of the four new additions to the Big 12 Conference, hosting Utah and Arizona State and visiting Colorado.

A trio of non-conference games open the slate, with reigning FCS national champion South Dakota State visiting Boone Pickens Stadium on August 31 for the first matchup of the two schools. The Jackrabbits enter as winners of their last 29 games – the third-longest streak in FCS history. Their last loss was a 7-3 setback at Iowa in 2022.

On September 7, Oklahoma State hosts Arkansas for the first meeting between the programs since 1980. It renews a series that began in 1912 and includes 46 prior matchups, with 32 games in 38 years from 1943-80 and 19 straight meetings from 1962-80. It is just the 10th time the teams have played in Stillwater, as previous meetings have also included games played in Fayetteville, Fort Smith and Little Rock. At just a 181-mile drive, Arkansas is the closest FBS program to Stillwater outside of in-state foes Tulsa and Oklahoma.

The non-conference slate concludes September 14 when the Cowboys visit Tulsa for the first time since 2019 in search of their 10th consecutive win in the series. It marks the first of eight straight seasons the Gateway Turnpike Classic will be played.

Big 12 play opens September 21 as OSU hosts Utah for the first time in school history. The Cowboys won the only previous matchup, 46-6, on the road during their undefeated AFCA national championship season in 1945. The matchup pits two of the of three longest-tenured active FBS head coaches, as Mike Gundy and Kyle Whittingham are both in their 20th year leading their respective programs.

Getting into more familiar territory, a September 28 matchup at Kansas State marks the Cowboys’ first conference road trip of the season. A week later, OSU hosts a West Virginia team that just wrapped up its highest win total in a season since 2016.

Following an open week, the Cowboys play back-to-back road games, visiting BYU for the first time in school history on October 19 then traveling to Baylor for an October 26 contest.

America’s Greatest Homecoming is set for November 2 when conference newcomer Arizona State visits Stillwater for the second time in three years. It is the third straight year OSU has faced ASU and the sixth overall meeting between the programs. It also marks OSU’s latest Homecoming game since 2002 and just the third November Homecoming since 1985.

A November 9 matchup at TCU precedes OSU’s second bye week. The Cowboys round out their regular season home schedule by hosting Texas Tech for Senior Day on November 23.

The regular season finale comes just six days later as Oklahoma State visits Colorado first the first time since 2008 on Black Friday. It renews a series with 47 games played between the programs. It also marks Oklahoma State’s first Black Friday game in school history.

The Big 12 Championship Game is set for Saturday, December 7, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Cowboys have earned a spot in two of the last three Big 12 title games.
