Remembering Mike Leach

College Football Coach Mike Leach passed away Monday December 12th, 2022 at the age of 61. WWLS mourns his death, but also remembers the impact he’s made throughout his career.

Coach Leach worked for the University of Oklahoma under Bob Stoops in 1999 then moved to Texas Tech from 2000-2009. He was the Big12 Coach of the Year in 2008 and the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.

“He changed College Football” former Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen spoke.

“There is no way I would be where I am today if not for Mike Leach and everything he taught me about the game,” former Texas Tech QB and Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “Truly one of the most innovative offensive minds in football, he was more than a coach. He was a mentor, a friend and one of the most special people I’ve ever met.”
