Second straight game for the Dallas Cowboys that the offense was a no show as Dallas fell to 2-4 with a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Cowboys’ defense wasn’t great, but the offense did little of consequence on Sunday night. Dallas travels to Philadelphia this Monday.

Green Bay had a similar defensive gameplan as Tampa Bay had the week before, and it worked just as well. Packers only registered one sack, but they hit Dak Prescott 7 times, a time or two very hard, and they kept the Cowboys’ offense held down for most of the game. Prescott threw 2 INT’s in the second quarter. The first came on a 3rd and 8 at the Green Bay 17, as Evan Williams lined up on the line scrimmage but rotated back to the middle of the field after the snap. Great call by Jonathan Gannon disguising that coverage. The second pick wasn’t Prescott’s fault at all, as CeeDee Lamb slipped, and the ball went directly to Brandon Cisse for the easy pick. That snap was on a 1st and 15 at the Green Bay 28, so both of the interceptions took away scoring opportunities. The Packers had Prescott and the offense rattled all night long, and in a copycat league, that’s two straight games in which a blitz heavy gameplan has held the Cowboys under 20 points. Dallas’ offense is stuck in the mud. Doesn’t help that they can’t run the ball at all.
did you CISSE that?!

Defensively, Dallas wasn’t horrible. They held the Packers to 57 rushing yards, but Green Bay is the worst rushing team in the league. Cowboys sacked Jordan Love 3 times and Dee Winters had an interception, but Love threw for 276 yards and a TD, and Matthew Golden caught 6 passes for 104 yards and a score. Story of the game, particularly in the first half, was Green Bay’s ability to convert third downs. The Pack were 11-18 on the night, and they converted their first six attempts on third down. Dallas was decent on first and second down, but they could not get off of the field consistently enough when they needed to. Baby steps, but big strides are still needed.

Up next, a trip to Lincoln Financial Field to meet the 2-4 Philadelphia Eagles Monday night at 7:15 on ABC and ESPN. Eagles have had incredibly horrible luck healthwise. QB Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the season as he deals with blood clots in his lungs. Scary deal. Here’s hoping Hurts can get healthy and back as soon as possible. Tanner McKee is expected to get the start on Monday. Saquon Barkley is in line to play Monday as he deals with a hamstring injury, but he was a limited participant in practice on Thursday. Philly’s offensive line has been in flux with Lane Johnson retiring, Cam Jurgens being traded to Baltimore, and Landon Dickerson’s knee injury. The Eagles’ top two WR’s, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, didn’t practice on Thursday as they’re banged up. This one’s difficult for me to pick. The Cowboys have their own injuries on defense, but they’re much healthier than Philadelphia. The Eagles are near the bottom in all of the major offensive categories. On the other hand, Dallas’ defense is still one of the worst in the league, and until the Cowboys’ offense proves that they can handle a defense sending blitz after blitz, it’s hard for me to see the Cowboys putting up a bunch of points.
