GAME PREVIEWS
Matt Meyer: Another slow start for the Cowboys finally bit them as Houston defeated OSU 35-32 on Saturday. Cougars led 14-3 at the half as the Pokes had to settle for a FG on a drive that advanced to the Houston 5, and OSU came up empty on 4th and goal at the 2. Four second half TD’s and 365 passing yards from Drew Mestemaker wasn’t enough to overcome Conner Weigman’s 5 TD passes and losing the turnover battle 2-1. An Oklahoma State defense that has been much better in the second half of games allowed three TD’s on Houston’s first four drives after halftime.
Cowboys celebrate homecoming this week when they host Colorado Saturday at 6:00 on FS1. Buffaloes are 2-4 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play but battled 10th ranked Utah tough last week. WR Joseph Williams is on pace for a 1,000 yard season. Isaac Wilson has taken over the starting QB job, but he’s only completing 57% of his passes and he’s thrown more picks than TD’s. OSU needs a bounce back performance from their defense. Buffs don’t have enough firepower to stay with the Pokes.
