The Dallas Cowboys fell back under .500 on Sunday as they lost to the Chicago Bears 31-14 at Soldier Field. Dallas is 1-2 and will host the 2-1 Green Bay Packers in Micah Parsons’ return to AT&T Stadium this Sunday night.

Another brutal performance for the Cowboys’ defense. After holding their own in a season opening loss in Philadelphia, Dallas has been terrible defensively, giving up numerous big plays, allowing opposing receivers to run wide open, and providing hardly any pass rush at all. Bears QB Caleb Williams connected on passes of 65, 41, 35, and 31 yards en route to a 298 yard 4 TD day. Chicago deserves credit for making the plays but wide open receivers running through the Dallas secondary is becoming a trend. Whatever defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus is trying to install isn’t working. On top of all of the big pass plays allowed on Sunday, Chicago used up 9:54 of the third quarter with a 19 play 76 yard drive that ended with D.J. Moore catching a TD pass while standing still and all alone in the end zone. On that drive, the Bears ran the ball on 11 straight plays, taking it to an improved run defense. Something or things have to change, because the Cowboys aren’t winning many games this season playing like that. The 92 points allowed through three games is the fourth most in team history. Dallas has allowed the most completions and passing TD’s of 25 yards or more in the first three games of a season in the last 45 years. Brutally embarrassing.

Offensively, the Cowboys moved the ball alright, but turnovers took away scoring opportunities. After forcing a 3 and out on the Bears first drive, Dallas got the ball and advanced 29 yards in 2 plays, but Javonte Williams fumbled the ball at the end of a 22 yard gain, and Chicago recovered. Five plays later, the Bears were in the end zone and the momentum was on Chicago’s side. CeeDee Lamb left the game with a left high ankle sprain and tried to return, but after one play, his day was over. Jake Ferguson caught 13 passes for 82 yards and George Pickens had 5 grabs for 68 yards and a TD, but the first of two Prescott interceptions went off of Pickens’ hands early in the fourth quarter, and any chance of the Cowboys coming back were realistically gone. After forcing a Bears punt, Dallas drove 91 yards in 15 plays, but Prescott forced a 4th down pass and it was picked off in the end zone.
Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could miss 3-4 weeks with a high left ankle sprain suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears, according to a source.

Lamb’s high ankle sprain could keep him out 3-4 weeks and rookie RG Tyler Booker also suffered a high ankle sprain that could keep him out 4-6 weeks. The impact of losing Lamb can’t be understated and Booker has had a nice start to his career. Pickens will become more of a focus and the Cowboys are improved running the ball this season, but these are two huge losses to the offense as Dallas’ defense is still trying to figure things out.
Dallas hosts Green Bay Sunday night at 7:20 on NBC. Micah Parsons returns to Dallas wearing green and gold, and the Packers will not be in a good mood after dropping a game to the Cleveland Browns. With the injuries on the Cowboys’ offense, Dallas’ defense struggling mightily, Parsons surely to be motivated to show Jerry Jones that he screwed up, and Green Bay looking to rebound from a loss to a bad team, I don’t see this one being particularly close.
