Game Previews
Matt Meyer: Sooners are 3-0 after smothering Temple 42-3 on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Oklahoma held the Owls to 7 first downs, 105 total yards, and 3-16 on third down. Temple isn’t anything great on offense, but OU did what you should do against an outmanned team, and that’s overwhelm them. John Mateer threw for 282 yards and a TD, and he ran for a score of 51 yards. Tory Blaylock ran for 100 yards and a pair of TD’s. I’m done wondering when Jaydn Ott will be used more; Blaylock is their best back and Ott is down the depth chart for a reason…probably more than one. OU opens their second season of SEC play hosting Auburn at 2:30 on Saturday on ABC. The Tigers come in at 3-0 after wins over Baylor, Ball State, and South Alabama. Former Sooner Jackson Arnold has completed 70% of his passes for 501 yards and 4 TD’s, and Jeremiah Cobb has ran for 314 yards and 4 scores on nearly 7 yards/carry. DE Keyron Crawford has 3 sacks, an INT, a forced fumble, and he leads the defense in tackles. Crawford can wreck the game if OU’s offensive line doesn’t account for him. Baylor threw for 419 against the Tigers, so Mateer and the receivers could have a big day if the OL protects well. Still waiting for Oklahoma to create more turnovers, but I think OU makes enough big plays offensively to win this one. Sooners 27 Tigers 20
