THUNDER SIGNS CHET HOLMGREN TO MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
OKLAHOMA CITY, July 13, 2025 – The Oklahoma City Thunder has signed forward/center Chet Holmgren to a multi-year contract extension, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.
Originally selected No. 2 overall by the Thunder in the 2022 NBA draft, the Minneapolis, Minnesota native has appeared in 114 career games (all starts) for Oklahoma City and holds career averages of 16.1 points on 51.9% shooting, including 37.2% from three-point range, 7.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.29 blocks in 28.9 minutes per game.
During the 2024-25 season, Holmgren appeared in 32 games (all starts) and averaged 15.0 points on 49.0% shooting, including 37.9% from three-point range, to go along with 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.22 blocks in 27.4 minutes of action per game.
Holmgren averaged 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.87 blocks in 29.8 minutes per game during Oklahoma City’s playoff run this past season. He tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and an NBA record five blocks in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals to help lift the Thunder to its first NBA Championship. The second-year forward/center became one of just eight players in NBA playoff history age 23 or younger to eclipse 500-plus points, 250-plus rebounds and 65-plus blocks.
Holmgren recorded a historic season in 2023-24 as he became the first player in NBA history to reach over 150-plus blocks, 150-plus assists, and 100-plus made three-pointers. He also registered nine games with three blocks and three made three-pointers, tied for the most ever by a rookie.
