Former Arizona State, NFL RB Malone dies at 68

Former Arizona State star and NFL running back Benny Malone died after a battle with diabetes. He was 68.Arizona State confirmed Malone’s death on Friday night.Malone played for the Sun Devils from 1971-73 and in the NFL from 1974-79. He was inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame in 1983.Malone set an Arizona State single-game rushing record of 250 yards in 1973 against Oregon State that held up for 45 years until Eno Benjamin rushed for 312 yards in 2018, also versus Oregon State.Overall, Malone rushed for 2,328 yards and 25 touchdowns during his Arizona State career.
