Eagles place DE Curry, CB James on injured reserve

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Vinny Curry and cornerback Craig James have been placed on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.

The news comes one day after head coach Doug Pederson told reporters that the pair sustained “significant” injuries during Philadelphia’s 27-17 loss to the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

Curry has an injured hamstring while James is nursing an ailing thigh for the Eagles, who also lost defensive end Brandon Graham to a concussion. The team entered the game without defensive end Derek Barnett, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

Curry, 32, recorded three tackles and a half-sack in the season opener against Washington. He has collected 181 tackles, 30 sacks and five forced fumbles in 113 career games with Philadelphia and Tampa Bay (12 games).

James had a fumble recovery versus Washington on Sunday. The 24-year-old has notched 15 tackles in 18 career games with the Minnesota Vikings (2018) and Eagles.

Also on Tuesday, the Eagles promoted guard Sua Opeta from the practice squad. Opeta, 24, was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster in December last year, however he did not appear in a game.
