Charlotte removes interim tag for coach Aaron Fearne

Aaron Fearne has earned the full-time job as head men’s basketball coach at Charlotte, as the school removed the interim tag from his title Monday.Fearne, from Australia, worked on Charlotte’s staff as an assistant coach from 2018-23. When Ron Sanchez left the 49ers’ head-coaching post to become associate head coach at Virginia last June, Fearne was given the role on an interim basis.Charlotte has gone 15-8 this season and 9-2 in the American Athletic Conference in its first season in the league. The 49ers have won nine of their past 10 games, including a win over then-No. 17 Florida Atlantic.
