THUNDER SIGNS SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER TO MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 8, 2025 – The Oklahoma City Thunder has signed guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to a multi-year contract extension, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Gilgeous-Alexander was named the 2024-25 NBA Most Valuable Player, Western Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP, en route to helping the Thunder to its first NBA title in team history. For the third consecutive season, he earned First Team All-NBA honors and was named an NBA All-Star, while becoming the NBA scoring champion for the first time in his career. He is one of only four players to win an NBA championship, earn MVP honors and a scoring title in a single season (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal).

The Hamilton, Ontario native appeared in 76 games (all starts) and averaged a league-best 32.7 points on 51.9% shooting, including 37.5% from three-point range, to go along with 6.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.72 steals (fifth in NBA) and 1.00 block in 34.2 minutes of action per game. He became just the second player in NBA history to average at least 30 points on 50% shooting to go along with at least 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.50 steals and 1.00 block [Michael Jordan (1987-88 and 1990-91)].

The seven-year NBA veteran posted his third-straight season averaging 30-plus points on 50% shooting, just the fifth player in NBA history to accomplish this (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan).

Gilgeous-Alexander scored 2,484 total points during the season, most in the NBA. 2,099 of those points came through just three quarters of play, which would still rank second in the NBA. He recorded 20-plus points in 72 straight games this season, second-longest streak in NBA history. He also compiled 208 stocks (steals + blocks) on the season, third most in the NBA.
