Florida extends White as coach through 2024-25

Amid preseason buzz of a possible Final Four and national championship run this upcoming season, the University of Florida has given head coach Mike White a raise and a two-year contract extension that lasts through the 2024-25 season, the school revealed Friday.Per information released by the university to comply with a public records request, the 42-year-old White’s salary increase this season will be $126,242. He is slated to make over $3.2 million in each of the final three seasons of the contract — which was signed in May.White, entering his fifth season as Gators head coach, spent four seasons as head coach at Louisiana Tech (2011-2015) before replacing longtime coach Billy Donovan, who jumped to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015 after winning two NCAA titles in Gainesville.In eight seasons in college, White has gone 190-93 (.671) with seven straight 20-win seasons. At Florida he is 89-53 (.627) and has reached the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons, which included a loss in the 2017 Elite Eight to South Carolina.Florida went 20-16 last season, losing to Michigan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
