The Cardinals continued to clear out bad contracts, after making a move earlier to release linebacker Stewart Bradley.

Next on the financial chopping block was cornerback William Gay, according to a team announcement.

Gay hit an escalator which was going to bump his salary from $1.475 million to $3.225 million, a difference they weren't going to pay.

While that's not an excessive number for a starter, but the Cards will be looking for an upgrade there.
